Autumn Light at Cechy pod Kosirem Chateau

Morning arrives gently at Cechy pod Kosirem Chateau, spilling low, honeyed sunlight across lawns still brushed with shadow. These twelve photographs follow a slow autumn wander through its park, where architecture and nature have settled into a long, comfortable conversation that the season has only deepened.

The journey begins on pale gravel paths that curve invitingly between tall trees. A solitary blue spruce stands like a silvery sentinel against the sky, framed by copper beeches and the mellow bronze of turning leaves. Elsewhere, a cobble-edged path climbs towards a distant glasshouse, its red-brick gable and Gothic window glowing against a hillside of russet and gold.

Seen up close, that glasshouse is a quiet marvel. Slender iron ribs hold tall panels veiled in soft white, while potted citrus trees stand guard in wooden tubs along its base. Beside it, a yellow-leaved tree burns with colour, a perfect counterpoint to the deep blue of the ornate arched door.

The chateau itself appears in several moods. Cream-coloured and gracefully proportioned, it presents a classical portico with green-painted doors, sculpted figures along the roofline and a broad flight of stone steps, while a golden tree leans against its façade as though to steal the show. Nearby, the church tower rises with its dark spire and clock face, peeking through hedges and foliage, its warm walls and terracotta roof glowing in the clear light.

On a grassy knoll stands a crenellated brick tower, its walls dappled with leaf-shadow and a flag stirring above the treetops. It feels part folly, part fairytale, and entirely at home among the changing leaves.

The collection closes beside the water, where a still pond mirrors the great spreading oak, the pale chateau and the forested slopes of Kosir beyond. Reflections dissolve architecture into painterly strokes of green, amber and blue. It is the quietest moment of the gallery, and perhaps the most rewarding.

Throughout, the palette is pure October: jewel-toned foliage, a cornflower sky, and the soft textures of gravel, stone and weathered brick. Čechy pod Kosirem rewards those who linger, and every turn of the path offers another frame worth keeping. Together these images capture the unhurried, golden pleasure of an autumn morning spent wandering somewhere beautiful, with nowhere else to be.
