Landscapes with long lens

Sometimes, it has been said that capturing landscapes with a long lens is easier than using a wide-angle lens. However, this is not always the case. While it may be easier to isolate a specific subject with a long lens, capturing the entirety of a landscape can be challenging.

As an aspiring photographer, I wanted to test this theory for myself. So, one day, I decided to try capturing landscapes with a long lens. I ventured out to a nearby location that had some interesting scenery and started shooting.

Marianske Lazne, Spa

A few weeks ago, I was in dire need of a vacation to unwind and recharge. After much contemplation, I chose to visit Mariánské Lázně, a charming spa town located in the western region of the Czech Republic. I was fortunate enough to secure a room at the Park Hotel Golf, a luxury hotel that offered an array of activities and treatments.

Veveri Castle

Veveri Castle is a stunning fortress located just 12 kilometres northwest of the centre of Brno. It is one of the closest castles to the city and can easily be reached by public transport. Although I will not delve into the history of the castle, it is worth mentioning that it has been rebuilt and reconstructed following the destructive actions of the socialist-communist regime. The castle has many gates, including the Southern Gate, which is the most common entrance used by visitors.

Klenova Castle and Manor house

Klenová Castle and Chateau, along with the nearby Manor House, is situated on the hill of the same name, to the west of the town of Klatovy in the Pilsen Region. The castle has a rich history, dating back to 1287 when it was built to guard the trade route from Železná Ruda to Bavaria. The castle was home to the Lords of Klenová, who played a significant role in the region's history. The palace was constructed in the 14th and 15th centuries, but it has been in a dilapidated state since the 17th century.

Night picture of Cathedral of St. Peter and Paul, Brno

I do really enjoy capturing the Cathedral of St. Peter and Paul in Brno at night, as it offers a unique and enchanting view. To achieve the perfect shot, it requires finding the right angle and timing when there are no distractions such as cars or tram wires around. Recently, I was able to take advantage of these perfect conditions and capture a stunning picture of the cathedral at night.

Old quarry

Exploring abandoned quarries is a fascinating way to witness the power of nature to reclaim land that was once used for human purposes. In the Brno area, there are several quarries that have been left to nature. It is intriguing to observe the paths and patterns created by the movement of people and machines in the past, now softened and blurred by the overgrowth of vegetation.

Ruined Castle Rabi

Ruined Castle Rabí is a stunning historical site located in the village of Rabí, close to the city of Klatovy. The castle has been standing there since the 14th century and it played an important role in the history of the region. However, after centuries of wars and neglect, the castle has been abandoned and left to decay.

Telc

Telc is a picturesque town located in the southern part of the Czech Republic, known for its beautiful Italian Renaissance architecture. The town was originally built around a Gothic castle, which was later transformed into a chateau with intricately carved wood ceilings. One of the most notable attractions in Telc is the Highlands Museum, which includes a detailed model of the city.

Moravian Tuscany trees and field waves in the late summer

The Moravian Tuscany region of the Czech Republic is known for its rolling hills, picturesque vineyards, and charming countryside. In the late summer months, the landscape comes alive with vibrant shades of green and gold, as the fields and trees sway gently in the breeze. It's a beautiful time to visit the region, and the author of this text recently had the chance to take some photos of the stunning scenery.

Bor castle in the mist and ducks

I have visited this place during my latest holiday spent in Marianske Lazne SPA. Bor is a castle in the town of the same name in the Tachov district. And the day I visited it was extremely misty from the early morning until the late afternoon. I have started visit of the castle from the nearby park with a pond. When approaching to the castle inhabitants of this pond came out from the nearby bushes and started to shout at me. There were many ducks hidden all around the banks.
