Klatovy

Castle - Velhartice

Is the stone castle in the surroundings of Klatovy or in a broader sense of Zelezna Ruda. The castle was built at the beginning of 14th century and is situated over the village of Velhartice. If anyone comes to see it there are several interesting dominants belonging to the castle. Also, the journey is interesting as well as the valley where the same-named village is situated.

Svihov Water Castle

Is a famous ‘floating’ stone castle situated in the town of the same name near Klatovy. The castle is surrounded by water. In medieval times, it functioned as a protection against the enemies. Now it seems to be more or less attractive for tourists... Anyway, the nature around the city itself is beautiful and those who admire old castles and history would find this place interesting.

Ruined Castle Rabi

During a short visit to my native city Klatovy I have made a trip to a nearby village Rabí to see the ruined castle of the same name. Even though the weather was not ideal and the sky was flat, no clouds, just fog, appearing from time to time, some pictures are really beautiful.

Klatovy Black Tower - rear view

Anyone who visits Klatovy a South Western situated city in the Czech Republic, by the way, my native city, know it’s dominant called Black Tower, placed in the top corner of ‘Namesti Miru’ or Square of the Peace. Some people also know about Catacombs. However, if I ask do you know more about this city, none of the visitors can say a word.
