Zirovnice castle – exteriors

Zirovnice Castle, located in the scenic Czech countryside, is a historical marvel dating back to the 13th century. The castle's exteriors are a captivating blend of Gothic and Renaissance architecture, making it a must-visit for history and architecture enthusiasts.
The castle's façade exudes grandeur with its robust stone walls and intricate detailing. The well-maintained gardens and lush lawns add to its charm, providing a perfect setting for leisurely strolls and picnics. The entrance gatehouse is an imposing structure, emblematic of the castle's historical significance.

Chateau Zleby, short visit of the castle and its park

Chateau Zleby, a picturesque castle nestled in the heart of the Czech Republic, offers a glimpse into history and natural beauty. My visit to this historic site was somewhat limited as the castle was regrettably closed for renovations during my visit. However, I seized the opportunity to explore the castle's enchanting park and its stunning surroundings.

Old quarry Hady in winter

The old quarry located above the city of Hady is a hidden gem that offers a stunning backdrop for photography throughout the year. During winter, the quarry transforms into a winter wonderland, with the snow-covered landscape providing a perfect opportunity to capture the beauty of the natural world in all its glory.

Snowy road with trees

Imagine driving down a snowy road with trees on either side, creating a beautiful and peaceful winter wonderland. As you make your way down the road, there's nothing but the sound of snow crunching beneath the tires and the occasional rustling of leaves in the wind.

The trees stand tall, with their branches covered in a blanket of white snow. Each tree is unique, with different shapes and sizes that create a stunning landscape. As you continue down the road, you feel as if you're in the middle of nowhere, with nothing but the snow-covered trees to keep you company.

Landscape with a tree

Exploring new and unfamiliar places is always an exciting adventure, and during my most recent outing, I stumbled upon a stunning landscape featuring a solitary tree. My original intention was to find a ruined castle to photograph, but after an unsuccessful search, I decided to venture further into the area.

It wasn't long before I spotted a residence shrouded in fog in the distance, and nearby, a striking tree with hanging branches and a lane leading towards it. Despite some hesitation, I decided to capture a few shots of the tree, and I'm glad I did.

Bukovany wind mill and orchard with field

Looking for a way to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life during quarantine, I decided to take a trip to the Bukovany windmill and orchard. Located just a short distance from civilization, this peaceful and picturesque location was the perfect antidote to the stresses and strains of modern life.

Windmill in Kuzelov

As an avid technology enthusiast, I am always on the lookout for fascinating technical monuments to visit and learn about. One such monument that I had the pleasure of visiting recently was the Dutch windmill in Kuželov. This stunning monument, built in 1842, is a testament to the ingenuity and engineering prowess of its creators.

Landscapes with long lens

Sometimes, it has been said that capturing landscapes with a long lens is easier than using a wide-angle lens. However, this is not always the case. While it may be easier to isolate a specific subject with a long lens, capturing the entirety of a landscape can be challenging.

As an aspiring photographer, I wanted to test this theory for myself. So, one day, I decided to try capturing landscapes with a long lens. I ventured out to a nearby location that had some interesting scenery and started shooting.

Marianske Lazne, Spa

A few weeks ago, I was in dire need of a vacation to unwind and recharge. After much contemplation, I chose to visit Mariánské Lázně, a charming spa town located in the western region of the Czech Republic. I was fortunate enough to secure a room at the Park Hotel Golf, a luxury hotel that offered an array of activities and treatments.

Veveri Castle

Veveri Castle is a stunning fortress located just 12 kilometres northwest of the centre of Brno. It is one of the closest castles to the city and can easily be reached by public transport. Although I will not delve into the history of the castle, it is worth mentioning that it has been rebuilt and reconstructed following the destructive actions of the socialist-communist regime. The castle has many gates, including the Southern Gate, which is the most common entrance used by visitors.
